NJMC Courts Updates Over Coronavirus
COVID-19 has changed how we live our lives and conduct our business. The NJ courts also suspended all the sessions for two weeks from 29th March 2020. The NJMC courts administration said that they would provide a new hearing date to all the defendants.
After a few weeks, they decided to conduct the court sessions but in a different way. NJMC Courts have changed the way of providing services so that people don’t suffer from any issues due to covid-19. They have stopped providing in-person services and stop conducting in-person court hearings and trials.
NJ Courts Virtual Hearings for Public Safety in Covid-19
Everything is being done, at least for now, in a virtual setting. Every day NJ courts judges and court staff are doing their work from their homes. They conduct remote hearings using video and phone conferencing in all divisions; civil, criminal, family, and municipal; and continuing operations in the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and Tax Court. New Jersey Municipal Courts also have an online portal where NJ people can quickly pay their traffic ticket and parking ticket.
In the trial courts, judges handle emergency matters like applications for custody of a child or prevent illegal eviction and important everyday events such as uncontested divorces, civil litigation, children’s adoptions, and drug court graduations.
